Job Title: Business Analyst
Location: Ann Arbor MI

The individual in this position works as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, prioritize, clarify, validate, and document requirements for changes to business processes and information systems in support of project objectives and scope.
The Business Analyst I works with guidance and is naturally inquisitive and has natural ability or willingness to learn skills in communication, elicitation, facilitation, and modeling techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Helps define, prioritize, communicate, and secure agreement on project objectives and scope.
  • Assists in performing and communicating forms and communicates results of stakeholder analysis.
  • Participates in defining, estimating effort, communicating, and securing agreement on plan of business analysis activities and artifacts.
  • With guidance, collaborates with stakeholders to elicit, prioritize, validate, and document testable, developer-ready business requirements.
  • Participates in creating professional quality project artifacts such as charters, requirement plans, business requirement documents, models (e.g., context diagrams, process maps, use cases), traceability matrices, and others as appropriate
  • Assists in collaborating with stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and manage changes to project scope and requirements.
  • Participates in helping to ensure that the solution design satisfies project objectives and business requirements.
  • Assists to help liaison(s) with basic tasks as they navigate between business subject matter experts and technologists throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participates in Identifying and communicating risks and issues as well as possible solutions.
  • Participates in peer reviews of business analysis artifacts.
  • Other tasks to be determined by management and project needs.

Requirements:
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient active listening skills.
  • Able to analyze and solve problems of a low to medium complexity nature with guidance.
  • Willingness to learn common elicitation, facilitation, and modeling techniques.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment, building rapport and relationships to develop a basic level of organizational savvy.
  • Efficient in organization and time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn conflict resolution strategies.
  • Able to work on project(s) of low to moderate complexity with guidance.
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn general business analysis methodologies.
  • Basic working knowledge of the company, industry, and/or assigned business domain is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as waterfall, iterative, or agile.
  • Familiarity with options and derivatives trading is a plus
  • Familiarity with Atlassian development tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, HipChat) is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Finance or Management or equivalent
