Position Objective

The Logistics Director is principally responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the logistics strategy (transportation, distribution, warehousing, etc.), both in North America and internationally. They will develop and optimize the design and operation of the logistics network based on knowledge of logistics operations, transportation providers, and third-party providers. The Logistics Director is the company's technical expert on import/export requirements and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing a reliable logistics network with flexible capacities to provide high quality, cost effective service, and a platform for future growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies and processes to ensure operational and service effectiveness of transportation and 3PL providers.
  • Optimize the logistics cost structure while maintaining service levels and meeting customer delivery requirements.
  • Manages the cost and service performance of all freight modes (Full Truckload, Less than Truckload, Intermodal, Air, Ocean, Small Parcel) for both inbound and outbound movements of product.
  • Direct and oversee inbound/outbound shipments to ensure the most economical utilization of carriers.
  • Develop the people, processes, and technology along with building solid partnerships with various third-party providers.
  • Oversees the preparation of logistics cost estimates to support customer and growth initiatives.
  • Identify and assess supply chain systems, technology, and best practices.
  • Monitor developments in the transportation industry related to rates, capacity, fuel and regulations taking appropriate care to protect the company and improve competitiveness.
  • Ensures compliance with all import and export requirements, proper documentation exists and manages record keeping processes.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Transportation Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management
  • 3 years of International Logistics Management experience
  • Detailed involvement in Transportation/Warehouse Relationship management
  • Solid understanding of the Transportation industry, benchmarks, indexes and best practices
  • Strategic thinker with excellent business analysis skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing external service providers
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
