Job Description: As a Senior Desktop Engineer at Client, the candidate would align business outcomes to technology goals and objectives. This position is tasked with taking new and innovative technology and applying them to business projects and programs. The Senior Desktop Engineer is primarily responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the desktop standards and configuration management infrastructure. The responsibilities include but not limited to working with the business and other teams to define desktop standards and solutions based on business and security requirements, defining technology roadmaps, prioritizing work efforts, and communicating standards to the business. Common functions include desktop consults with other teams, desktop image management, staff training, OS imaging, application deployment, patch management, Group Policy management, and VMware vSphere ESXi & Horizon View management.

The ideal candidate will have a keen sense for industry trends and emerging technologies with strong operation experience who can improve employee productivity and satisfaction.

Principal Responsibilities Include:
• Assist in managing the life cycle of desktop management systems in the production environment
• Analyze, design, develop and implement processes, tasks and solutions for the improvement of the work place experience
• Expected to consistently document processes for design, deployment, and ongoing support of client device management systems
• Provide expertise in multiple areas of technology and client device management systems
• Perform pro-active and reactive maintenance on Symantec managed clients
• Provide active management and maintenance of the Symantec ITMS (Altiris) platform
• Develop automation scripting (PowerShell) for IT administrative tasks
• Automate end user support activities to include packaging of software
• Responsible for Windows OS Image management and processes
• Responsible for application packaging workflow process from intake to deployment
• Work with LOB's, development teams, and other project leaders/stakeholders to provide technical solutions that enable business capabilities
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, high-pressure, fast-paced environment
• Critical thinker is required, detail oriented, ability to research and collaborate effectively
• Possess ability to work independently in a problem solving, deployment, and root cause analysis capacities
• Superb problem-solving skills to accelerate time to resolution for incidents and problems, available as tier 3 support and resolution
• Mentor, coach and trainer for team members and Desktop Support staff
• Participates in 24/7 rotating on call support
• Stay apprised of industry trends and ensure implementation of best practices
• Formulate partnership with vendors and ensure we leverage their services optimally
• Management of multiple concurrent projects including business, team, vendor and technology coordination
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education Minimum Requirement
• Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent work experience

Required Experience and Skills
• 5+ years or more of relevant experience with Symantec ITMS (Altiris) and desktop management required
• 5+ years or more working with and creating custom PowerShell scripts in order to handle different administrative tasks
• 5+ years or more managing Microsoft Windows OS process, Group Policy, enterprise application deployments, and patch management
• 5+ years or more working with VMware vSphere ESXi 6.x & Horizon View 7.x and above
• 5+ years or more supporting different versions of Microsoft Office and a more expert level of knowledge
• 3+ years or more packaging applications for workstation deployment in an enterprise environment, using Symantec ITMS (Altiris), Flexera Admin Studio or similar
• 3+ years or more of basic enterprise networking experience
• 3+ years or more of SQL experience, should be able to create SQL queries to provide data analysis and manage Symantec ITMS (Altiris) managed assets

Preferred but not Required
• Certifications MCSE, MCSA, VCP, VCAP
• VMware certifications are highly desirable
• Experience in a global financial organization (e.g., Investment Management, Banking, Financial Technology Services)
• Experience working with mobility, identity, SaaS, DLP, and compliance a plus
• Office 365 management
• Microsoft Windows device management leveraging Intune and AutoPilot
• Microsoft OneDrive for Business
• Cyber security best practices and compliance
• Apple macOS and iOS experience and or management, is a bonus
