Create GUI / Digital Interactions for a next-generation robotic surgical system. Work embedded in our Systems Engineering team to understand and influence digital workflow at all levels. Update and maintain visual design language and refine digital interactions across a highly complex, interactive system. Collaborate closely with a dedicated Human Factors team to help define user needs, prototype, test and refine usability across all digital interactions. Create prototypes and production graphics for everything from inspiration to testing to marketing collateral. This position will report to the Industrial Design & User Experience lead.

• Refinement and maintenance of digital visual language, maintaining roots in original Design Language
• Ideation and development of digital interface across system screens
• Observation of Usability testing and OR procedures
• Active participation in Systems Engineering processes of risk assessment and requirements development and refinement
• Development and maintenance of structured design documentation including GUI spec

• BS/BA in Digital/GUI/UX/Interaction Design with 5 years experience, or MS/MA with 3+ years experience
• Strong visual prototyping and graphic communication (GUI prototyping platforms, Illustrator, Powerpoint) for design ideation and persuasive/explanatory use (e.g., helping systems engineers illustrate a workflow or interaction concept)
• Cogent, concise written communication
• Experience independently managing and prioritizing design approach to multiple projects (e.g. consultancy) or complex systems (e.g. medical systems).
• Position location Boston MA
• Travel up to 20% of the time primarily between Boston and North Haven facilities via car or train as well as other occasional domestic and international travel

• 2+ years experience with regulated product development process (e.g. IEC62366; requirements; development stages)
• Experience with timelines and budgeting
• Workflow agility and clear communication to meet fluid project priorities and requirements and tight timelines
