  • Create GUI / Digital Interactions for a next-generation robotic surgical system. Work embedded in our Systems Engineering team to understand and influence digital workflow at all levels.
  • Update and maintain visual design language and refine digital interactions across a highly complex, interactive system.
  • Collaborate closely with a dedicated Human Factors team to help define user needs, prototype, test and refine usability across all digital interactions.
  • Create prototypes and production graphics for everything from inspiration to testing to marketing collateral.
  • This position will report to the Industrial Design & User Experience lead.

  • Refinement and maintenance of digital visual language, maintaining roots in original Design Language
  • Ideation and development of digital interface across system screens
  • Observation of Usability testing and OR procedures
  • Active participation in Systems Engineering processes of risk assessment and requirements development and refinement
  • Development and maintenance of structured design documentation including GUI spec

  • BS/BA in Digital/GUI/UX/Interaction Design with 5 years experience, or MS/MA with 3+ years experience
  • Strong visual prototyping and graphic communication (GUI prototyping platforms, Illustrator, Powerpoint) for design ideation and persuasive/explanatory use (e.g., helping systems engineers illustrate a workflow or interaction concept)
  • Cogent, concise written communication
  • Experience independently managing and prioritizing design approach to multiple projects (e.g. consultancy) or complex systems (e.g. medical systems).
  • Position location Boston MA
  • Travel up to 20% of the time primarily between Boston and North Haven facilities via car or train as well as other occasional domestic and international travel

  • 2+ years experience with regulated product development process (e.g. IEC62366; requirements; development stages)
  • Experience with timelines and budgeting
  • Workflow agility and clear communication to meet fluid project priorities and requirements and tight timelines
