Description:
Client is seeking a Maps Quality Analyst for the Maps and Locations Infra team within the Spatial Computing team. Individuals in this role are expected to be comfortable working as a cross-functional partner in a fast changing environment and have a passion for solving real-world problems. This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park, CA headquarters.

Responsibilities:
  • Query the world OpenStreetMap database to check quality of data.
  • Query, inspect and edit GIS data.
  • Communicate detailed analyses to support decision making.
  • Develop stable processes for human validation for both OpenStreetMap data production and map QA.
  • Train and help hire other Map Editors and Quality Analysts and manage priorities for the QA team.
  • Ensure consistency in process and results across the team.
  • Measure and track metrics.
  • Provides real time coaching, mentoring, and support to new editors, including knowledge of new material in a rapidly-changing environment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in a technical field (Physics, Mathematics, Engineering etc.)
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Experience working with GIS data, remote sensing and analyzing aerial imagery.
  • Scripting experience with languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Experience with OpenStreetMap.
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, Quantum GIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, iD or JOSM.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years' experience industry experience in GIS field.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to write scripts to analyze OpenStreetMap data quality.
  • Experience in telecommunications and network design.
  • Strong analytical skills and intuition, capable of making decisions based on analysis and experience.
