Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to work as an Expert Data Modeler for << >>. This position will analyse current data models and will lead data architecture and design efforts in support of new and transformative efforts across the enterprise. This position will work closely with business and technology owners to capture objectives and strategies while also working closely with the staff or vendors who are engaged to provide the solutions and services.
Required Skills: 7-15 years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies Enterprise Data architecture principles and standards, best practices, industry standards Enterprise data model development and standardization experience. Excellent knowledge of Conceptual, Logical and Physical data models Thorough knowledge of Sybase Powerdesigner, ERwin Data Modeler or a comparable data modeling tool Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and the ability to convert a physical design into a dimensional design Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts Participate and oversee all stages of systems development life cycle (requirements, design, coding, testing, and implementation) Create Tables, Views, Indexes, Sequences, PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, SQL statements in Oracle Performance Tuning including tuning/optimizing existing SQL, PL/SQL code Experience with two or more of the following DBMS technologies: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL...etc. Reviewing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and/or User Stories (Agile methodology) and translating them into viable conceptual and subsequently logical data models Translate the business requirements into design artifacts, employing the core design principles Profiling the data in the source system(s) by writing SQL statements Develop mapping documents that demonstrate data lineage Revising data dictionaries, governance practices, and standards Converting logical data models into working physical data models and, document and maintain lineage between the two artifacts Script generation and maintenance and Check-In/Check-Out along with Source Version Controls and generation across multiple database environments. Exposure to Modern data architecture, Big Data In-Memory processing, Hadoop Data Lake, develop models in Data Lake to enable Self-service Business Intelligence Effective communication skills and customer relationship management skills High level of proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
Desired Skills: Experience with any ETL tool (Informatica, DataStage, etc.) Experience with any Business Intelligence (BI) tool (i.e. Cognos, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, etc.) Experience with any data profiling/data discovery tool such as IBM Information Analyzer Understanding of Big Data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, HDFS, NoSQL, DataLake etc)
Education/Certification: Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Computer Science or Information Systems) Data management and data architecture related certifications (i.e. TOGAF) is a plus
