Position Description: Under supervision, selects, prepares orders and arranges for purchases of various types of both IT and non-IT equipment, materials, software, services and supplies used by the various Divisions within the Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Skills Required : Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in the purchase of equipment, software, services, materials and supplies; knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, standards and procedures relating to a government purchasing unit after a period of training; familiar with problems encountered in office purchasing work; knowledge of recordkeeping procedures; ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods; ability to work with associates, supervisors, vendors and sales representatives interested or concerned with purchase matters; ability to expedite the delivery of purchases when necessary; ability to prepare reports.

Experience Required: Three years of experience in the large scale purchase of commodities, materials, equipment, software, services and supplies required. Must be recent

Experience Preferred: Ability to perform such duties as may be required to develop procedures for receiving, tabulating and recording requisitions in one or more areas received from different Divisions and assisting in the preparation of proposals to be sent to vendors; ability to work harmoniously with associates, supervisors, vendors and sales representatives and with others interest in or concerned with purchase matters.

Education Required : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Education Preferred:

Applicants who do not meet the above education requirement may substitute additional experience as indicated below on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.
