Position Description Grant Accountant needed to provide coverage for approx. 3-6 months **Works under the direction of the Senior Accountant performing various financial accounting activities required for the VRE. To include, but not limited to, assisting to reduce the backlog of outstanding federal and state grant reimbursements, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting in the preliminary and year-end audit process.** • Maintains invoices and monitors all federal, state and local grant billings. Tracks the receipt of funds and reconciles to the general ledger. Assists in grant revisions and extensions for state grants. • Develops invoicing and reporting procedures for grants from new funding sources, in accordance with grantor requirements • Prepares required monthly and year-end journal entries. • Assists in the year-end audit process through the preparation of audit schedules, account analyses, and answering auditor inquiries. • Coordinates with NVTC, PRTC and staff within VRE on eligibility of activities for grant reimbursement. • Assists in reviewing accounting records for the general ledger account system. • Administrative duties as assigned. • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Skills Required • Attention to detail is a MUST • Must be proficient in Excel • Excellent communications skills, ability to deal effectively in a service oriented environment, proficiency with computers and notably a proficiency in Excel. • All skills / knowledge of Accountant. • Proven knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices including cost accounting. • Demonstrated ability to assemble, analyze and prepare reports and statements covering complex financial data. • Accounts payable / receivable may require experience with an automated system. • Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office. • Demonstrates a level of confidence, maturity, and judgment that allows independent problem resolution in a real-time environment.
Skills Preferred
Experience Required At least 3-5 years of related work experience required. Experience with the operation of computer generated information and control systems in a real-time environment. Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office required
