Position Description The Network Administrator of the LAN and WAN will work in cooperation with and act as backup for the Network Engineer/Sr. Network Engineer in managing of hardware and software implementation, monitoring, maintenance and licensing; installs and configures software; documents the network; and performs related tasks. The incumbent reports to the Director of Information Technology. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. • Participate in planning, managing and maintaining the company’s wide area networks and local area networks and security hardware and software; • Create and maintain user accounts, e-mail systems, fax server, communications (smart phones, conference phones, desk phones, call center), internet access, office systems and applications support; Add, changes, and deletes users; • Answer client support calls. Identify and document the nature of network and workstation problems, records loss of service, and impact on the client. Prioritizes the resolution to those problems seeking input from Sr. Network Engineer or Director as needed; • Resolve easy, moderate and complex issues with customers’ hardware, software and communications; • Upgrade network hardware and software components as required, reports audio/visual concerns, recommends solutions, and schedules repairs; • Work with contractors or vendors to procure, install or repair/troubleshoot hardware and software; • Identify, research, and resolve technical server, security and computer problems; • Assist the Network Engineer/Sr. Network Engineer on setup, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance of servers, storage devices, security devices, and PC’s; • Assist the Network Engineer/Sr. Network Engineer in securing, physically and electronically, all network information, files, and servers. • Install, upgrade, and configure network printing, directory structures, group and user rights, security levels, and software on file servers. Recommend, test and implement hardware and software for the organization; • Configure and install PC hardware for workstations, laptops or tablets, including wiring, and basic to intermediate network and PC hardware maintenance. Maintain workstation inventory by recording location and status; • Maintain warranty and software licenses for the companies Information Technology equipment; • Prepare equipment for disposal or recycling; • Manage and maintain server files and programs; perform records searches with appropriate sign offs; • Assumes primary responsibility for telecommunications hardware and software support; • Assist IT Management in project planning and research by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information pertaining to hardware and software performance, and how performance affects CMHA’s business and operating processes; • Foster and maintain client confidence by working with a variety of people at various skill and educational levels; • Manages small to complex sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules; • Primary administrator of voice and data communications, voice mail and telephones; • Must maintain confidentiality with regard to information processed, stored or accessed by network. • Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills Required • Knowledge and experience with network administration, server administration, PC administration. • Knowledge of IP telephony and smart phone technology. • Ability to work in a fast changing environment with excellent organizational skills. • Good diplomatic skills and the ability to work with others in a patient manner. • Experience in MS Active Directory, VMWare, SQL, Windows PC and Server operating systems, MS Office Suite, Citrix Xenapp, WSUS, and enterprise email.
Skills Preferred • Knowledge and experience with network switching protocols, layer 2 and layer 3, and adaptive security firewalls. • Knowledge of configuration and management of virtual servers. • Knowledge of configuration, monitoring and management of security systems. • Knowledge of cloud-based computing and the monitoring and management that accompanies it. • Ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints. • Ability to create well-written reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. • Must be able to lift 50lbs
Experience Required • 3 - 5 years of relevant PC and LAN support experience. • Network, Active Directory, Microsoft or other certifications strongly preferred.
Education Required • Minimum two-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related fields preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
