Position Description • Provides all administrative support of Juvenile Court Commissioner as a Judicial Assistant and bailiff. • Prepares, maintains and revises daily court calendars, including: setting hearings/trial dates, processing motions, and preparing transportation and telephonic appearance orders for adult prisoners. • Arranges for interpreters, court reporters and special assignments as necessary. • Reviews case files for completeness; contacts interested parties for missing information and or documents; prepares files for Commissioners' review prior to hearings. • As bailiff prepares courtroom, gathers all parties for hearings, directs when cases will proceed to courtroom, and manages calendar flow. • Assists in case flow management with daily input of hearing outcomes into the court database. • Requests files from Clerk of Court and organizes for Commissioner's review prior to hearings. • Answers questions in person, in writing and by telephone from self-represented litigants, attorneys and court staff. • Reviews mail daily and processes all in-box and out-box correspondence for Commissioner • Works collaboratively with other Commissioner divisions to offer assistance in time of need. • Uses the following programs and equipment: MS Outlook, MS Word, iCIS, multi-line telephone system, copy machine and fax There are 2 locations for this position Durango Juvenile Court Center 3131 W Durango, Phoenix, AZ 85009 South East Juvenile Court Center 1810 S Lewis St, Mesa, AZ 85210

Skill in coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others. Skill in creating, composing, and editing written materials. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to understand and follow quickly and accurately brief written and oral instructions. Initiative to follow up with additional information, Anticipate additional questions and prepare with that information

Education Required High school diploma or GED Certificate with two years’ experience as court staff, or three years in a law office. Education Preferred Preferred education and/or experience: Previous experience as judicial staff. Previous experience in Juvenile Court. Knowledge of Juvenile Court procedures, legal terminology, and the legal requirements for processing court documents. Previous experience interacting with judges, commissioners and attorneys a plus.
