Position Description Client is looking to fill approximately 31 short term temporary staffing positions no later than August 15, 2018. The temporary staff will be working at the State Training School for Boys (STS) located in Eldora, Iowa and will have a job title of Youth Services Worker which is described below. Each candidate may only work a maximum of 780 hours per State guidelines for temporary staffing and the staffing agency is responsible for keeping a record of the number of hours worked for all staff they place at STS and ensuring the staff does not exceed the 780 hour limit. The work shifts are 10 hours but variable start times are available. The day and afternoon shifts start anytime between 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The night shift is from 9:45 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. Days off are variable. The starting hourly rate paid to temporary staff will be $15.00 per hour. Job Title Description: Serves as the primary caretaker to youth in a state institution who have been determined by the court to be a juvenile delinquent. Oversees the activities of the youth in maintaining order, discipline and safety. Confers with professional counselors and other staff, attends meetings and participates as a treatment team member in group activities. Models desirable health and personal habits. Provides and participates in recreational, medical and other outings. Documents information about an individual’s treatment on treatment records.

Experience Required At least (2) two years full time work in a youth services program working directly in the treatment of adjudicated, at risk, or other youths needing service or assistance.

Additional Information The STS staff work with males, ages 12-17 years, who have been adjudicated as delinquent by the courts. In some circumstances students may stay beyond their 17th year of age. On average 95 male students are served daily. The STS operates 24/7, every day of the year. Approximately 50% of youth need psychotropic medications. Most youth have had multiple out of home placements prior to their admission to STS. Youth stay approximately 10 months on the average.
