Position Description • There is flexibility with the schedule during daytime, week day hours. However, the incumbent will be required to attend some pre-arranged evening and weekend programs, trainings and events. • Under general supervision, assists the Neighborhood and Community Services Community Impact Unit to: • develop and present public programs focused on emergency preparations and continuity of operation plans for faith and community based organizations in Fairfax County • conduct an inventory of the Fairfax County Community Chaplain Corps curriculum; plan and present trainings; and develop a continuing education resource plan Job duties will primarily focus on presenting emergency preparedness workshops to audiences of 25-200, reviewing and writing curriculum and building and strengthening community networks. Professional level duties also include researching and analyzing demographics; editing and writing training and publicity materials. Logistical duties will include scheduling speakers and translators; booking venues, setting up registration and arranging for equipment; preparing statistical information such as audience and outreach data; tracking budgets and writing grant reports. This position will work with other Fairfax County agencies including Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and public safety; may work with volunteers.
Skills Required cSupervises staff performing clerical accounting duties, resolves problems by performing qualitative review of individual cases, enters data into corporate accounting systems and reconciles a wide variety of accounts receivable/payable, performs petty cash custodial duties, audits clerical accounting procedures in other agencies. • Researches and recommends equipment/vendors and prices, determines substitutes for supplies and low value equipment, verifies the accuracy of and updates the department equipment and/or fixed asset inventory. • Authorizes requests for goods and services in corporate system, monitors contract compliance, may act as procurement card manager.
Skills Preferred Strong communications skills needed, both orally and in writing. Independent, organized self-starter, working in team environment. Knowledge of statistical software and strong competencies in desktop computer use.

Education Required Graduation from an accredited two-year community college or four-year college/university with a degree in communications, public speaking, business administration, emergency planning or field related to the assigned functional area such as human services, education or public health.
