Position Description *Submitted candidates must be able to interview and start ASAP!!* NURSING STAFF SCHEDULER - RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assess the overall resident acuity level by unit. 2. Schedule nursing staff based on the acuity level to provide effective nursing care. 3. Approve vacation, AL day, holiday requests based on the contractual obligations with the appropriate union. 4. Scheduler must be mindful when using/scheduling personnel to minimize duplication and overtime. 5. Should be familiar with electronic timekeeping as well as fluent in using computer software. 6. Maintain accurate records associated with staff scheduler, benefit times requests and denials. 7. Proficient in scheduling overtime, holidays, etc. on a rotational basis. Under direction of a supervisory official, schedules facilities and the preparation and distribution of daily, monthly, and semester information bulletins; does other related duties as required. Conversely, all duties performed on the job may not be listed. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Reserves a facility and classrooms. Coordinates the scheduling of all functions. Makes arrangements for food service, special equipment, and other services required by groups utilizing the facilities. Ensures that proper accounting of fees billed for the use of facilities is made. Processes all facility and combination food and facility contracts. Coordinates the preparation, printing, and distribution of schedules of semester event calendars including the layout, printing, and distribution of same. Contacts campus organizations to determine planned activities. May assist in resolving time conflicts between organizations. Prepares and distributes daily news bulletins listing meetings, events, and announcements. Works with various offices on matters relating to facility scheduling and the preparation of event calendars and bulletins. Prepares detailed correspondence in the course of official duties. Prepares accurate, informative reports relating the facilities scheduling which contain findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Prepares and maintains records and files. Will be required to learn various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Skills Required Knowledge of the available facilities after a period of training. Knowledge of office methods, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of record keeping methods, procedures, and routines. Knowledge of problems encountered in planning and organizing a complex facility scheduling program. Knowledge of techniques and problems involved in planning, editing, and layout of informational calendars and bulletins. Ability to coordinate the scheduling of all nonacademic functions and temporary academic functions. Ability to make arrangements for food service maintenance, special equipment, and other services required by groups utilizing facilities. Ability to ensure that proper accounting of fees billed for the use of facilities is made. Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods. Ability to coordinate the preparation and printing of event calendars and bulletins. Ability to prepare correspondence in the course of official duties. Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Ability to establish and maintain records and files. Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. Skills Preferred
Experience Required At least one (1) year of related experience in scheduling the use of a multi-building facility.
Experience Preferred
Education Required Successful completion of 60 semester hour credits from an accredited college or university. NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for- year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.
