Position Description Help us make the vast ASU digital realm more inclusive as a Web Accessibility Specialist. • Evaluate existing and new sites, platforms, and mobile applications against W3C WCAG 2.0 level AA accessibility guidelines, using manual testing, automated tools and assistive technologies. • Write detailed findings to document identified issues and recommend potential solutions and best practices for remediation of accessibility violations. • Assist with web and mobile accessibility and user testing of digital products. • Develop and deliver informative and useful high-quality outreach presentations and training workshops • Remediate accessibility issues in Drupal and other websites and applications. Skills Preferred
Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field AND three (3) years experience of web development or web design experience OR, seven (7) years experience providing information technology services; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months experience.
Experience Preferred • A minimum of 3 years of experience with semantic HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript • A minimum of 3 years of experience with web and mobile accessibility, including WCAG 2.0 and WAI-ARIA guidelines • Ability to remediate accessibility issues in websites and applications (both desktop and mobile), electronic documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and multimedia (video) • Working knowledge of assistive technologies, including screen reader software (JAWS, VoiceOver, NVDA) • Experience performing manual and automated web accessibility evaluations and creating a written report, including recommendations for remediation • Familiarity with disability law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act • Excellent written communication skills for documentation and audit reports; verbal communication skills for training, consulting and development • Knowledge of principles, concepts, methods and techniques of universal design standards • Drupal experience helpful Assistive technology users strongly encouraged to apply.
