 Position Description  
  • The purpose of this position is to support the development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the Maricopa County Department of Public Health Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and other preparedness related activities in the Office of Preparedness and Response (OPR) which pertain to volunteer activities including recruitment, retention, training, and management. At direction of OPR Training Officer, research and develop strategies, procedures or plans pertaining to the recruitment and retention of volunteers. Collaborate with new and existing internal and external Public Health partners for the development of volunteer sources.
  • Recruit volunteers through community partnerships, stakeholders, and the community at large to a sufficient level to implement the Public Health emergency response plan in a public health emergency. This may include, but is not limited to, maintenance of database(s) of contact information; assist with meeting development and facilitation; identification of new volunteer partners; and maintaining existing volunteer relationships. Maintain the data base used to track and manage volunteers and volunteer equipment.
  • This may include, but is not limited to, demographic information, availability, training, credentials, and badge identification system, and equipment issued. Facilitate and or coordinate recruiting activities, site visits or other activities with external partners to support the volunteer program. Coordinate and attend volunteer training including scheduling volunteers and classrooms, logistics, and facilitation. Serve as the point of contact for all volunteers.    
Skills Required 
  • Excellent writing, clerical, and data entry skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel and PowerPoint; excellent communication skills and ability to establish new and/or maintain existing partnerships; recruiting, screening, and interviewing techniques, and employee recognition programs.
  • Flexible and able to work in variable settings in assignments with varying complexity; excellent interpersonal skills; able to work with minimal supervision in highly stressful environments; ability to utilize web-based programs to support research, recruitment, and reporting.   
Experience Required 
  • Experience establishing or maintaining community partnerships between government and non-government agencies; facilitating meetings to obtain information or identify community resources; writing processes, procedures, or plans; managing a volunteer group.   
Education Required 
  • HS Diploma   
Education Preferred 
  • College Degree preferred
