The Director of Patient Services (DPS) is a member of the administrative team of CRMC and as such, participates in decision-making, policy determination, planning and operations of the hospital. The DPS has the authority and responsibility for defining the philosophy and objectives for nursing practices within Coalinga Regional Medical Center. She/he is responsible for operationalizing the philosophy of nursing. The position also has the authority and responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice, nursing policies and procedures, and nursing standards of patient care. More specific responsibilities are outlined below:
Adheres to CRMC’s Universal Behavioral Standards: Customer Focus/Dignity, Excellence, Teamwork, Adaptability and Responsibility.
Develops hospital-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patient’s nursing care needs or patient populations receiving nursing care are assessed, evaluated and met.
Develops and implements the hospital’s plans for providing nursing care to those patients requiring nursing care.
Participates with governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in hospital’s decision-making structures and processes including strategic planning process
Implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.
Participates in effective management of financial, human, material and informational resources.
Ensures that the organization has an overall plan for the development and implementation of educational programs and research that support nursing practice and patient care.
Participates with leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical areas in planning, promoting and conducting hospital-wide performance improvement activities.
Plans, directs and controls all administrative activities related to assigned service areas.
Works with department managers to plan, develop and operate a budget.
Develops, interprets and directs the implementation of hospital policies and procedures.
Assists departments in the development of new or expanded programs with the established critical success factors of CRMC.
Interrelates with multiple persons to communicate, resolve problems and facilitate patient care; and
Works directly with medical and other professional clinical staff on resolving patient care or operational issues to facilitate patient care.
Oversees other clinical areas as designated by Administration.
The incumbent possesses the following minimum qualifications for this classification:
Current/Active California RN license
Baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field with at least two years of experience in nursing administration preferred; or
At least four years of experience in nursing administration or supervision, with evidence of continuing education directly related to the job specifications.
Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to delivering nursing care and strategies for examining and applying relevant concepts and current leadership, management, and performance improvement concepts.
Ability to participate in developing and implementing strategies to address opportunities for improving nursing care.Please see Job Description.
