Position Description: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of support duties in the criminal division. Rate of Pay: Not to exceed $15.00/hr Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM

Skills Required: Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work as a team member. Ability to learn and apply office practices and procedures. Ability to perform duties with speed and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision. Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures, filing, telephone techniques, and office equipment.

Experience Required: Essential Job Tasks: Delivers and picks up legal materials, documents, equipment or other items. Makes copies of documents for attorneys and staff, scans documents for electronic storage and organizes materials. Responsible for answering a high-volume, multi-line switchboard for department of 100+ employees. Provides limited information within realm of authority to clients, the public, other justice agencies and staff. Greets visitors, directs walk-in traffic. Monitors visitor building access and access badges. Assembles, sorts, and/or inventories documents, equipment or other materials. Receives, logs, sorts, and stocks supplies. Sort and date stamp mail and packages for pick-up and distribution throughout the office. Files legal documents with the court. Moves boxes, other large items, and performs minor office clean-up tasks. Performs miscellaneous routine clerical tasks as needed.

Education Preferred: Preferred education and/or experience: Prior experience in a public defender and/or indigent representation office. One (1) year experience working in a criminal defense law office. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.

Additional Information: Working conditions: Walking 2-3 miles outdoors frequently above 90 degrees, standing and sitting for long periods of time. May be required to lift, carry (half mile) or push (half mile) 25-35 pounds. Unscheduled tasks, frequently changing tasks and working in close physical proximity with others may be frequent occurrences. Traumatic subject matter (crime scenes, accidents, etc.) interruptions, time pressures, high volume of work, handling multiple or complicated tasks, accuracy, decision making, concentration/vigilance, teamwork, and public contact may be constant occurrences.
