Position Summary:
Application Support Engineer that has the technical background and expertise to provide tier 3 troubleshooting for various systems that support a dynamic, enterprise scale infrastructure.
To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to work collaborative with other technical SME's to maintain the availability of services in a 24x7x365 environment , identify barriers to performance in both systems and processes, and have the ability to identify improvement opportunities at every stage.

  • Work individually or with other team members to troubleshoot complex support issues, including:
    • Desktop workstation service and repair
    • Server configuration and maintenance
    • Networking systems
    • RF signal distribution
  • Install and configure new Java and web services middleware applications
  • Debug existing applications that interface with database back end systems
  • Prevent system resources and application consumption from negatively affect service availability
  • Report and resolve incidents, including identifying root cause and reoccurring system issues
  • Collaborate with senior level Engineers to resolve problems to ensure 24x7x365 availability
  • Work within established processes for change control and incident management
  • Manage history revisions of production applications but limited to technical literature
  • Clear communications of all procedures, workarounds, systems, best practices, and other vital information via documentation, training, and presentations

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. CS, CIS, MIS) preferred
  • Nice to have certifications: MCSE, RHCSE, Linux+, Security+ and Network+
  • Experience with:
    • Implementation various Middleware on Linux based Servers; Messaging Oriented, Object, RPC, Database, Transaction & Portal Middleware
    • System implementation and best practices for Redhat, CentOS, Windows and Mac Operating systems
    • VMSphere, VMWare and KVM
    • Configuration management such as CFEngine, Chef, Ansible or puppet a plus
  • Knowledge of :
    • Scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, Java, ksh, and Bash
    • Network related protocols: TCP/IP, SSH. NFS, CIFS, FTP
Unique requirements of the role:
  • Must be available to provide after hour support as needed
  • Minimum travel required may be required
