Overview:
This project is for the purpose for providing cost effective security controls to protect automated systems data, defend the VA digital systems, protect infrastructure, plan and prepare for future security needs. Team will support policy for security and privacy protection across systems, networks, cloud computing, software and hardware. We will be providing Program Management, systems assessment and management, MDPP Risk Management and Working Group Support, Medical Device Isolation Architecture (MDIA) technical support, and FSS Portal and SharePoint support for more than 1,500 facilities across the country.  
 
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Technical Writer include but are not limited to the following:
  • Produce original content by becoming familiar with the subject, interviewing subject matter experts and other research as needed.
  • Review, write, edit, and update various technical documents and white papers.
  • Coordinate the gathering of source material for technical documents and aggregate material into a single cohesive and concise document.
  • Produce Installation Guides, Help Files, User Guides, Production Operation Manual and additional documents as needed.
  • Assist in designing presentations and other related documents for marketing purposes.
  • Provide assistance with reviewing, editing and formatting for other deliverables if necessary.
 Required Skills and Experience:
  • Associate's Degree in English, Professional Writing, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or other related discipline AND 2 years of professional experience in the same; 4 years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 yrs. of experience as a Technical Writer for software related projects.
  • 2 yrs. of experience gathering and converting data into a written narrative.
  • Ability to explain highly technical data and information in simplistic terms for End-Users of complex IT systems and projects.
  • Good experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to manage and produce multiple documents and presentations for different projects.
  • Experience taking and documenting meeting minutes.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Desired/Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Government agency contracting experience; VA preferred (VHA/VBA).
  • Knowledge of HL7 - a set of international standards for transfer of clinical and administrative data between software applications used by various healthcare providers.
