Engineering Assistant will partner with the Pharmaceutical Maintenance Engineers to function as part of an integrated team providing Maintenance and Engineering support to on-going Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) operations across several areas of the Kalamazoo, MI plant. This Engineering Assistant role will work directly with and under the direction of the Pharmaceutical area Maintenance Engineers. General responsibilities are to support the Maintenance Engineers in their day-to-day duties to maximize the maintenance-related uptime and operating efficiencies of equipment and facility assets. The Engineering Assistant will also be responsible for helping to update the associated planning and tracking systems. This position will have the opportunity to interact with the Operations Areas in a business partner arrangement to achieve mutual production and uptime goals.

Education:
• The ideal candidate will have finished at least 1 or 2 years of their course work toward a BS Degree in a technical discipline (for example Mechanical or Chemical Engineering) from an Accredited Institution or have some technical experience in a related field.

Experience:
• Some work experience (related field not necessary) is preferred and demonstrated technical ability and attention to detail is a must
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
•Computer literacy and ability to learn new systems is required (success in this role will require efficient use of several different computer systems that are used to manage and run the Maintenance programs on site)

The work environment ranges from office, to plant, to Maintenance shop. The worker will frequently have the potential to be exposed to operating mechanical equipment in a normal operating environment including work near moving mechanical parts. Use of hearing, eye, hand and foot protection is required and will be supplied. Personal Protective Equipment applicable to the task must be worn at all times. Excellent computer skills and accuracy of data entry is important
