. The person for this job will not be hands on in the field. They will not touch a piece of equipment. The primary task is working in Visio Professional and producing network design drawings. The person will also design and create bill of materials. A strong key word would be Network Architecture.


Able to handle complex work including all aspects the Network Architecture design projects, creating BOMs, using wide knowledge of the field and subject matter (advanced knowledge and skillset that provides subject matter authority and superior command in Data Network Engineering and Design). Familiarity with Visio Professional and producing network design drawings a must. May provide input in setting objectives and policy, identifying critical issues and introducing new concepts . Performs work and makes decisions independently, provides assistance, advice, and solutions to peers, customers, and co-workers. Identifies and implements better work alternatives and business processes.

Works fairly independently, this role performs complex design, planning and evaluation of voice and/or data network architecture and systems. Develops standards, applications. Resolves network problems. Provides highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture. Provides resolution for network problems. May interface with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software. Is responsible for working with an individual business unit on multi-project assignments. Guides and advises less experienced Network Analysts. Monitored on project's progress and results. Errors may cause delay, expense and disruption.

Desired Experience, Skills and Work Ethic/Qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of IP and Ethernet Based Data Network Technology. Engineering design concepts & fundamentals to include network security devices, multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches and Wireless platforms.
  • Cisco multiprotocol router and multilayer switching experience is required.
  • Juniper multiprotocol router and multilayer switching experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of EIGRP, OSPF and BGP.
  • Strong understanding of Network Security.
  • Knowledge of MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching).
  • Knowledge of how wireless works.
  • Effective computer skills including detailed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Products to include Visio, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate strong technical documentation skills.
  • Small project leadership experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in developing project estimates.
  • Analytical, abstract thinking and problem solving skills.
  • A self starter.
  • Work effectively within a team environment.
  • Willing to adhere to established best practices, standards, change management policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work flow.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Cisco, CCIE Routing and Switching , CCNP Routing and Switching, CCDP or related experience
  • 6-8 years data network engineering/design experience.
