Position Summary

The Technical Product Owner is the leader for all aspects of the technical development and implementation of the NextGen product. They collaborate with the Business Area Owner to understand the business drivers and goals of the product and use it to drive the vision, innovation, and technical implementation for NextGen.
They are responsible for monitoring the emerging IT trends in the healthcare environment to determine its relevance and impact on the company. They are an active participant in the Architecture Guild in the development and compliance of standards for the development of the product. They are the technical expert and oversee the technical design and architecture for the product.
They help mentor and guide the technical growth of the development team. They are creative and they help inspire creativity from the development. They are hands on. They are comfortable rolling up their sleeves, where required, to help show how things can be done. The technical team looks them for answers. They are resourceful with depth of knowledge of cloud deployments of systems written in Angular, Go, and Mongo DB. They are creative and uplifting and look for ways to make the development effort rewarding and fun.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Works as a key member of the technical leadership team in the development of the NextGen product
Collaborates with the Business Area Owner to understand the vision and business need for the NextGen and translate those needs into technical release roadmap for the product.
  • Utilizes agile development practices to craft technical epics, features, and stories for in the development teams. Implement metrics to track and improve the performance of the development team.
  • Ensures the delivery of the product by actively removing obstacles, ensuring resources have the appropriate tools and equipment to do their job, validating stories are groomed with appropriate detail, sprints meet predefined sprint goals, and automation test and deployment scripts are developed to ensure CI/CD.
  • Identifies, communicates, and mitigates issues or risks that threaten the release of the product.
  • Participates as a key member of the Architecture Guild in establishing the blueprints for NextGen and standards the development team will follow.
  • Is a hands on developer, when needed, using Angular, GoLang, and Mongo. Understands all aspects of the code base and architecture. Guides the team in the proper development of secure micro services using GoLang. Develops code samples and documentation that guides the team in the development of standardized, secure, maintainable, and performant code.
  • Implements continuous integration and continuous deployment techniques using Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Helps engrain creativity and innovation in the development process. Mentors and develop the technical skills of the development team using creative learning techniques (code a thons, brown bags, meet-ups, online courses, experiments, etc.).
  • Provides feedback to administrative managers regarding the technical performance of the development team. Provides technical coaching to the team to help them grow in their craft.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience. 8+ years of relevant design and architecture experience.

Preferred:

  • Strong experience as a technical product owner or similar role leading a lean/agile development team
  • Hands on experience with Angular, Go, Mongo, Informatica, Docker, Jenkins, and/or Kubernetes
  • DevOps experience in a cloud based development environment
  • Proven track record implementing architecture design patterns in a large, highly scalable environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • IT experience within a managed care environment
