Senior Analyst- Network Capacity Planning

The Senior Analyst for Network Capacity Planning is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting network capacity globally for CLIENT. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with other team members to identify upcoming capacity risks in network components; convey those risks to appropriate support teams; and to analyze specific components sensitive to increases in business workload. This is done through a robust set of tools collecting system, performance, and volume metrics for analysis within capacity / forecasting / risk reports. Establishing strong collaborative relationships with business and technology owners to review capacity status, capacity trending, and technology projects is central to success.

• Function as a strong second for the Network Capacity Planning team manager
o Lead or act as manager delegate to meetings with Network Engineering, Customer Service, and Relationship Management teams.
o Lead projects as appropriate
• Analyze capacity data and evaluate against approved thresholds to
o Identify hotspots
o Proactively notify services owners of any potential issues
• Create/maintain network forecasting models: daily/weekly/monthly reports
• Review capacity request increases against projected workload expansion/ growth
• Review current and forecast network capacity assessments
o Ensure these meet the needs for both Service and Business Product Owners.
• Produce presentation materials showing analysis and recommendations
• Proactively engage with infrastructure and development SMEs to understand of major systems initiatives and their impact on capacity requirements
• Manage an inventory of capacity-related incidents problems through the ticket life cycle
o Raise tickets for deficiencies in network devices and/or the monitoring tools
o Ensure these have been opened to the relevant Network Subject Matter Experts
o Track that these are addressed in a timely manner
• Document existing processes and procedures and recommend enhancements
• Mitigate risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.

• Experience with diverse network technologies and platforms
• Expert understanding of Network concepts
o OSI Model and Network topologies
o Layer 1, Layer 2 technologies - DWDM, Optical OC-192, MPLS, HDLC
o Cisco Switching - Ether-Channel, Trucking, STP
o Routing protocols EIGRP, BGP, OSPF
o Firewall security and proxy traffic shaping
• Familiarity with Network design best practices
• Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel (statistical functions, complex pivots)
• Experience using VB script to automate Excel statistical functions
• Experience in SharePoint programming and customization
• Experience with Network capacity planning tools
