Position: Java Server Side Developer and Systems Integration Engineer

Position Overview

Reporting to the manager of the Global Alfresco Engineering team, this is a position for an experienced web application developer and integration engineer. The successful candidate will be conducting development and support for downstream clients. Current project work includes replacing legacy software services (with an N-Tier application architecture) with a new platforms and services blending bespoke and open source technology. The required next generation technology stack will adopt a modern approach to deliver solutions that are vertically and horizontally scalable.
The successful candidate will join as a Java Web Application developer and Systems Integration Engineer. A strong background in Java and related frameworks such as Spring, ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate, Ibatis, MyBatis), and Java Servlet Containers (such as Tomcat) is a must. They should be able to demonstrate a background in application development and integration using web services (REST). RDBMS and Content Management Systems (CMS) or Document Management (DM) exposure/experience would be preferred.
The team employs Agile project methodologies and Test Driven Development (TDD), applications should be experienced in working in this type of project. Applicants should have good management, organization and communication skills as part of a team that provides software and services to other Technology and Data teams at Brokerage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Delivery of features for the Alfresco platform at Brokerage meeting agreed timeframes
• Develop innovative solutions meeting organizational standards
• Will be proficient in translating product owner or business requirements into user stories with acceptance criteria to enable the team to create products and services.
• Conduct code reviews, follow Agile development practices and employ Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Consume products, services and technology from other internal teams within the firm
• Proficient in Reviewing and sizing the product backlog with the rest of the team on a regular basis, assisting in prioritization of development efforts
• Managing assigned sprint deliverables and work with the rest of team to meeting collective commitments
• Build expertise and provide both support and advice to internal customers
• Contribute to the evolving road map of the products and platform
• Undertaking DevOps type roles/responsibilities when the need arises


Skills Required:

Excellent Problem Solving Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both team members and clients
Java and related frameworks including Spring
Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Development knowledge and experience with:-

oSource Control systems like GIT, SVN, or Perforce
oAgile Project Methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)

Skills Desired:
Content Management Systems (CMS), Document Management (DM), Web Content Management (WCM) products such as Alfresco, Documentum, FileNet, CQ5, Interwoven
Working experience developing with Python
JavaScript (server and client side), Ajax, JQuery, extJS, Angular Freemarker Lucene/Solr and other search related products and technology
Scripting skills

Advanced Workflow Engines such as Activiti, JBPM
Familiarity with container technology (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with service discovery and micro-service concepts

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (BEng/BS) from four-year College or university and 5-10 years of related experience and/or training
Delivery focused
Strong organizational and team working skills
Experience in the finance industry or corporate environment
