Hiring for a Senior Systems Engineer at client Investment in Durham, NC
The EI - End User Computing organization has responsibility for the architecture, engineering and operations of critical corporate technologies that include Office 365, Mobility and Remote Access.
The Senior Systems Engineer will support and maintain platforms including e-Collaboration and compliance software by researching, engineering planning, implementing, and supporting new technologies, and responding to problem escalations as they arise, whether isolated to a single user or system-wide.
The position includes design, installation, and administration of various applications by ensuring the availability of services, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the on premise infrastructure and server environment as well as our SAAS solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Support and maintain Microsoft's Exchange 2013 on premise infrastructure as well as the Office 365 deployment.
Follow engineering/operations methodology that includes requirements, design, certification, implementation, and release management.
Develop and document relevant engineering documentation and operational run books.
Perform scheduled weekend and after-hours work, as well as after-hours emergency work, as required.
Candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Exchange 2013 and Microsoft SQL.
Candidate will be supporting a large Corporate IT mission critical services.
Candidate should be familiar with performing Exchange restores.
Candidate should also have working knowledge of journaling and retention environments.
Education / Experience
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
10 years of Microsoft Experience with at least 5-7 providing direct operations with Microsoft Technologies.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification a plus
MCSE is a plus
Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of common Email Server Systems, Microsoft Windows Systems, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 / 2013 and Office365.
Working knowledge of other server-based software packages and protocols including:
Microsoft InTune, OneDrive and SharePoint Online
McAfee Antivirus
Application integration; familiarity with utilizing API's for data collection and reporting
Experience engineering/sizing, installing, configuring, and maintaining mission critical applications
Knowledge of Microsoft SCOM
Ability to communicate well with team and customer, both written and verbally & attention to detail
Active Directory hands on experience
Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools
General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN and NAS
Ability to assess performance data and determine system bottlenecks
Work effectively both independently and in a team environment
Proficient in PowerShell
