I. JOB SUMMARY –

Performs a variety of clerical and administrative activities specific to the human resources function. Duties include assisting in the recruitment and selection process, checking personnel related documents for accuracy and completeness, maintaining files and records of a confidential nature, and preparing periodic standardized reports.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES –

1. Assist in the recruitment and selection process by screening candidates, coordinating pre-employment testing, and processing paperwork.
2. Input and update data into HRIS according to policies and procedures. Process action changes (i.e. compensation data, terminations, hires, promotions, training) that create a change in the employee's HR record in a timely manner.
3. Assist candidate and employee processing activities for union and non-union positions.
4. Prepare documentation as dictated by HR processes. Review and ensure appropriate documentation is complete.
5. Provide excellent customer service. Answer phones and other correspondence responding in a timely manner to all inquiries or forwarding to appropriate department/staff.
6. Maintain general knowledge and understanding of human resources practices, policies and procedures to support communications. Comply with confidentiality requirements.


III. REQUIREMENTS –

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. One or more years experience providing administrative support within Human Resources.
3. One or more years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
4. Demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to prioritize, organize, and apply judgment and discretion.
5. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills displaying positive customer service characteristics and good working relationships in a team environment.
6. Decision-making ability with excellent customer focus.
7. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced/high volume environment.


IV. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Recruiting experience.
2. PeopleSoft entry experience.
3. College level coursework in business administration.
4. Experience handling confidential/sensitive information in a professional environment.
