Network WAN/LAN/SAN Engineer

SUMMARY  
This request is to procure consultant services for the EAM Wi Fi Implementation Project. This role is to participate in and/or supervise site surveys for the purpose of cabling estimates, cable and access point (AP) installations, testing, and inspections of the completed work. The consultant would also responsible for creating, maintaining, or updating specific documentation and network diagrams or drawings. 
 
The consultant will work with the assigned Project Manager to coordinate with various business units and vendors to ensure that this work is done in a safe and professional manner.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES   
  1. Design LAN/MAN/WAN infrastructure (wired and Wireless) with Copper and Fiber cable plant using Cisco switches and WAPs. 
  1. Supervise Ethernet/Fiber cabling installation by vendor in office and field locations. 
  1. Ability to create/modify detailed Visio or other network drawings. 
  1. Quickly solve moderate level problems relating to network connectivity and performance. 
  1. Review and prepare Scope/Specification documents. 
  1. Ability to review detailed labor estimates for cabling and make recommendations.  
 
RISKS  
  • Consultants will be required to work in communications and electrical rooms. 
  • Consultants may be required to supervise work on station platforms or travel along station platforms to get to communication or electrical rooms. 
  • Consultants must attend track safety training and receive certification. 
  • Consultants will be required to travel between 2 Broadway and NYCT, LIRR, MNR, and B&T field locations using public transportation. They may be required to carry networking and Wi Fi equipment to these locations. 
QUALIFICATIONS  
  • Good knowledge of wireless and Wi Fi equipment, installation and system configuration and testing. 
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and communication skills 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint version 2010 or higher 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project version 2010 or higher 
  • Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; a self-starter
