The Senior Operations Data Analyst extracts data, develops insights for analysis, initiatives and leadership support, and responds to ad hoc data requests. This role also maintains operational tools and databases to ensure that they are kept up-to-date using data from various systems. The analyst identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and creates ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related field or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience

  • Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Microsoft SQL Server

  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization best practices using Tableau Desktop Professional

  • Strong data analysis skills, knowledgeable in collecting data, organizing, synthesizing, reporting, recognizing trending and anomalies, drawing conclusions from data.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel/Access/Powerpoint

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with utility operations

  • Experience in creating packages and scripts in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

  • Extensive technical knowledge of SAP R3, BW, AO and BusinessObjects

  • Good knowledge of scripting language (Ruby, Perl, Python)


  • Manage complex data analysis projects with limited supervision from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed accurately within budget and on-time.

  • Serve as first point of contact to clients with ad hoc analysis and questions on weekly reports.

  • Design data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences. Analyze data using various statistical tools to develop ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles.

  • Create complex automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.

  • Demonstrate and communicate clear, concise, and actionable data analyses for clients

  • Provide recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes.

  • Propose, evaluate and document alternatives that will provide the most effective solution to solve business problems including delivery of new business initiatives.

  • Maintain steady state SQL extracts and update weekly operational dashboards in Excel.

  • Develop recommendations regarding new or better reports based on assessment of stakeholder needs, resource planning trends and to provide better clarity and quality data for effective leadership decision making.

  • Participate on special initiatives project teams. May assist with some IT related enhancement discussions. Collaborates with team members on most effective field rollout of process, tool and/or reporting changes.

  • Lead business and technical training internally and cross-functionally within T&D Business Operations and Electric Distribution.
