Portfolio Accountant

A Major Financial Firm located in Denver, CO has an immediate contract opportunity for a Portfolio Accountant.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation and reporting of Unregistered Products (commingled pools, separate/institutional accounts). Analyzes data to identify potential issues and performs research to develop appropriate solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform reconciliations for assigned group of funds/accounts.
  • Analyze custodian data against accounting system to identify potential problems. Develop and communicate appropriate solutions.
  • Preparation of scheduled and ad-hoc reporting for internal and external customers
  • Ensures that required records are maintained and stored according to appropriate retention policy in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of policies and procedures for all work performed.
  • Assists in identifying opportunities for process improvement and greater efficiency
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Assumes additional duties as requested or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • General knowledge of investment and financial services industries
  • Understanding of and ability to reconcile alternative investments (SWAPS, Futures, Options, FX Forwards) preferred
  • Knowledge of global and emerging markets preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel; accounting system knowledge preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
  • One year investment accounting /operations/account reconciliation experience preferred
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent required
