Job Description: Recycle Team work to be conducted in a 24/7 manufacturing services environment which includes office space, production line supply chain space, plant floor, and food service areas. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and will demonstrate a high level of professionalism. Availability: Since this is a 24/7 operation, candidate should have open availability as schedules can change per business needs. Open to overtime. Overtime is frequently announced and required when production spikes at the facility. Job Responsibilities: Depending on what role Recycle Technician is assigned to within shift, duties will include: Manually sort and bale trash (compost, recycling and waste), plastic, Styrofoam, wood and cardboard. Erroneous waste contamination training will be provided. Must be able to recognize contamination (incorrect items placed in incorrect bins) Prepare recycle materials for the safe transport of items by palletize, wrapping, and loading. Prepare shipment loads and move recycle containers via forklift or pallet jack (up to 1,500 pound load). o Forklift, Tugger, Powered Pallet Jack or Flatbed driving can be assigned intermittently to a Recycle Technician. Training and Certification will be provided on site at the client by nextSource. o Honk at blind corner to inform oncoming traffic of arrival and while making wide turns. o Valid State Issued Driver License is required. Otherwise, a written exception is obtained by the Client and professional is never assigned to this duty. Professionals can be assigned to perform duties in office space, production line supply chain space, plant floor, and food service areas. Production Line Supply Chain traffic is to always take priority over everything. Including pedestrians, recycle flow etc. Assignments can be within and outside of the factory but all are on plant property. Given the 24/7 nature of operation, outside work takes place during all weather conditions. (hot, humid, cold, rain) Respond to specific service requests as assigned. Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions immediately to the Supervisor. Complete safety training and necessary role certifications (provided on-site by the client and/or nextSource Trainers). Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published work rules. Due to increased vehicular traffic all professionals are to be aware of surroundings and earbuds are not to be worn. Physical activities: Work may require lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing 60 pounds, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and repetitive bending. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in ALL areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. PPE is provided by the Client. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards with high focus on continuous improvement. Responsible for communicating requests/issues to Supervisor. Identify and report equipment/vehicle repairs via established work order process. Perform special project assignments as required Maintain work area cleanliness and comply with factory 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize & Sustain) efficiency requirements. Possible Assignments. Please note all team members will be cross trained for these roles. First Floor Duties: o Line Sorter Responsible to obtain necessary supply of bags to pick up the disposed production related materials on specific on foot routes. Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to retain details as to route; approved walkways and prohibited spaces and what materials are Recyclable or Waste to Energy. Training received. Ability to report contamination to Supervisor. Station the filled bags for pick up in an area that will not interfere with production or vehicular traffic. o Line Tugger Driver Responsible to inspect and complete vehicle checklist prior to boarding. All PPE must be worn prior to ignition. Driving in sectioned production line routes. Follow traffic flow and manually provide directionals to other vehicles and pedestrians. Making eye contact with oncoming persons know your intent to either turn or go straight. Understand that production vehicles and supply chain flow goes first. Must be aware of where you can and cannot park. Constant start and stop of vehicle along route. Getting in and out of tugger and lifting and throwing bag(s) (up to 50 pounds) into the back of the tugger. Once the tugger container is full, tugger will be driven outside (rain or shine) to the designated area. Tugger driver will be responsible to empty the bags out of the container and sort bags by color placing then in respective area. o Cardboard Sorter Responsible to sort and pick up cardboard, Styrofoam, plastic straps and wooden/plastic pallets in designated area on production floor. Prolonged standing required. Ability to retain details as to sorting protocols. Training received. Responsible to break down cardboard boxes and safely pack items into gondola to prepare for transport to recycling center. Stack pallets in safe manner to prepare for forklift pick up. o Cardboard Tugger Driver - Responsible to inspect and complete vehicle checklist prior to boarding. All PPE must be worn prior to ignition. Driving in sectioned production line routes. Follow traffic flow and manually provide directionals to other vehicles and pedestrians. Making eye contact with oncoming persons know your intent to either turn or go straight. Understand that production vehicles and supply chain flow goes first. Must be aware of where you can and cannot park. Constant start and stop of vehicle along route. Getting in and out of tugger, pushing/pulling filled gondolas and securing to tugger for transport. Ability to pull/push up to 60 pounds. Once gondolas (2 max) are attached, tugger will be driven outside (rain or shine) to the designated area. Tugger driver will be responsible to unhitch filled gondolas and attach empty gondola(s) prior to returning to start point. o Forklift Driver - Responsible to inspect and complete vehicle checklist prior to boarding. All PPE must be worn prior to ignition. Driving in sectioned production line routes. Follow traffic flow and manually provide directionals to other vehicles and pedestrians. Making eye contact with oncoming persons know your intent to either turn or go straight. Understand that production vehicles and supply chain flow goes first. Must be aware of where you can and cannot park. Constant start and stop of vehicle along route. Various areas of coverage. Forklift driver is required to pick up boxes of glass, wooden/plastic pallets, boxes of sorted materials. Taking all loads outside to the recycling center. Second Floor Duties: o Powertrain Sorter Responsible to obtain necessary supply of bags to pick up the disposed production related materials on specific on foot routes. Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to retain details as to route; approved walkways and prohibited spaces and what materials are Recyclable or Waste to Energy. Training received. Ability to report contamination to Supervisor. Transport the filled bags to designated indoor area. Will pick up Recyclables and Compost gondolas from the back of house area in the caf and transport them to designated drop off point near elevators. Push gondolas onto elevator for travel to first floor and handoff. o Q22 Sorter Cardboard only. Empties Cardboard gondola and places cardboard items into the bailer. o Forklift Driver -Responsible to inspect and complete vehicle checklist prior to boarding. All PPE must be worn prior to ignition. Driving in sectioned production line routes. Follow traffic flow and manually provide directionals to other vehicles and pedestrians. Making eye contact with oncoming persons know your intent to either turn or go straight. Understand that production vehicles and supply chain flow goes first. Must be aware of where you can and cannot park. Constant start and stop of vehicle along route. Various areas of coverage. Forklift driver is required to pick up wooden/plastic pallets, boxes of sorted materials and cardboard bails. Forklift driver is responsible to operate the bailer and remove compressed cardboard bails. Taking all loads to designated are by elevators for pick up. Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill for Recycle Team: Possess experience in recycling operations preferred. Clean background check. Understanding of written and verbal instructions in English. Possess the abilities to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidate should possess high degree of dedication to a high level of customer satisfaction. Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma required.
