On-Board Services, a Family-Owned U.S. Based Professional Staffing and Search Firm, is in search for a Research and Development Technician for Leading Chemical Fortune 500 Client in  Johnston, IA 50131. This is a new position, and will be working on a 12 month contract.

The Research and Development Technician,  will be involved in all aspects of soybean disease evaluation in the growth room and field. This includes fungal medium preparation, planting experiments for fungal and nematode evaluations, inoculum production, inoculation of multiple pathogens, and disease evaluations. Other responsibilities include growth room maintenance, and lab/headhouse cleaning. This position involves some heavy lifting.

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM
Location: Johnston, IA 50131
 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biological Studies or related field such as Plant Science or Biotechnology is preferred
  • Skills and experience in aseptic technique, microbiology, plant pathology, molecular pathology would be preferred.
  • For this position we are looking for a candidate with a higher degree of technical or educational experience as it relates to pathology
  •  Experience working in a lab environment and liquid handlers with aseptic techniques are preferred
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, vast attention to detail, and robust organization skills
  • This position requires great communication skills and the ability to work with a team
Responsibilities: 
  • With guidance from supervision and within established procedures, conducts routine research laboratory activities, information/data management activities or operates small scale production equipment in support of research and development.
  • Identifies and suggests improvements in methods, plans projects of limited duration and scope, troubleshoots when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
  • Responsible for producing research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assembling and configuring of small scale production equipment and control systems in a timely fashion utilizing a variety of techniques, effectively documenting findings and communicating results.
