Operator/Mechanic Needed

On-Board Services, a Family-Owned U.S. Based Professional Staffing and Search Firm, is in search for Operator/Mechanic for a Leading Chemical Manufacturing Fortune 500 Client in Rockland, ME.
 
The Operator/Mechanic will monitor and operate equipment and facilities, including field equipment, insuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. Maintains safety standards at all times and initiates and follows emergency procedures when necessary. Performs basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment. May perform advanced maintenance activities, if needed.
 
The schedule for this position is Monday to Thursday, from 5:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This is a 6 month contract.
 
Pay Rate: $15 per hour

Operator/Mechanic Responsibilities:
  • Will perform physical testing of finished products, in-process materials and experimental blends to ensure shipment of products are within organizations specifications and federal regulations.
  • Complete fork truck safety inspections (gas and electric).
  • Stamp and/or label packages.
  • Operate tote dumping and pit systems to charge proper ingredients for each blend into blending system.
  • Check accuracy of product scales and take corrective action if required.
  • Independently operate each of the stations on the blending/packaging lines, including the box erector, blender take-out, palletizer, scale weigh, sampling and tying drums, lidding and bar coding drums, stacking drums, heat sealing boxes, taping, stacking and shrinking boxes.
  • Participate in complete blending system clean out.
  •  Clean all blending system magnets.
  • Check Kason screens for damage and initiate corrective actions if needed.
  • Sanitize the blending area Check blender mechanical seal and initiate corrective action if needed.
  • Check the blending detector Dig out basic extract batches as per blend sheet utilizing the warehouse management system.
  •  Inventory basic extract from grinding into warehouse utilizing the warehouse management system.
  • Replace air filters on bin intake and Mac blower as directed.
  • Complete all required paperwork and log sheets for above tasks.
  • Understand special requirements and handling of all products, including set-up for special blends.
  • Understand and comply with GMP and QMS procedures for the Blending area.
  • Participate in writing new procedures or modifying existing procedures.
  • Lock Tag Try, Hot Work Permit, and Confined Space Entry responsibilities.
  • Participate in training new employees in Blending area.
  • Communicate and transfer information as needed to other team members.
  • Participate in identifying and solving problems in the Blending area, including reset of equipment.
  • Print package labels as needed
 
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Knowledge/Skills/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic math skills.
  •  Good reading skills.
  • Computer knowledge
  • Lift and carry 55 pound boxes; lift and empty 50 to 80 pound bags; manually move up to 260 pound drums.
  • Drive fork-trucks. Be extremely mobile; walking, standing, bending at least 75% of workday.
  • Work in fast-paced, noisy environment.
  • Work rotating shifts.
