Work Schedule:
Monday to Sunday, 12 hour rotating shift. (5:30 am - 5:30 pm ; 5:30 pm - 5:30 am) - This includes 1 week off per month plus days off between shifts.

Purpose of Role:
The Production Specialist will provide support to the Basic Plastic Polyethylene business via operation of the High Pressure Polyethylene R&D Pilot Plants. The incumbent will work directly with engineers, scientists, leaders, and other technicians to ensure safe and proficient operation of the plants to deliver product samples and process information as requested in the planned experiments.

Key Responsibilities:
  •  Setting up and operating process equipment
  • Monitoring unit performance
  • Troubleshooting process and equipment problems
  • Performing lab analysis on finished product
  • Perform routine maintenance and needed repairs
  • Handling unit raw materials, waste, and 55 gallon drums 
  • Operates and field checks process equipment.
  • Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems.
  • Writes permits to enable plant support activities to take place. Does not include high energy or hot work permits.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List. E.g. Field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.
  • Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Engages in safety focus teams and drives safety culture to achieve a work environment where there are ZERO injuries and environment insults. - Coaches and train others on plant operations.
  • Performs process upset/crisis response activities assigned by Operation Coaches.
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating discipline. Includes creating and improving job procedures.
  • Monitors, collects and inputs plant metrics for Statistical Process Control (S.P.C.), asset utilization, conversion costs, production yields and identify opportunities for plant optimization.
  •  Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals in a semi-works or plant environment (Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years experience in one position, working in plant operations)
  • Experience analyzing and solving process or mechanical problems
  • Ability to communicate well, using both verbal and computer skills 
  • Candidates must be able to work a 12 hour rotating shift. (5:30 am - 5:30 pm ; 5:30 pm - 5:30 am) - This includes 1 week off per month plus days off between shifts.
  • Will be expected to schedule informal meetings with project requestors prior to initiating fabrication work to ensure complete understanding of expectations / desired outcome.
  • Must have good people skills and must be a team player.
  • Develops new skills that benefit the team and must be able to work effectively with the team to modify and improve procedures and work processes.
  • Must be willing to assist team members with project work and be willing to share leadership responsibilities.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and in a timely manner to keep others informed of the status of assigned work.
  • Success will depend on working effectively with internal and external customers of the Polyethylene business in addition to working with people and teams at various levels of the organization.
  • Must practice interpersonal versatility in interactions with others of diverse backgrounds, needs and styles.
  • Builds rapport and effective relations.
  • Must seek opportunities to develop skill sets in equipment operation / troubleshooting and improve overall individual performance.
  • Would be encouraged and supported by management to attend training seminars as needed to improve individual performance to reach fullest potential.
  • Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment, which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in tight or closed-in spaces (e.g. pipe rack).
  • Must be able to climb stairs and work at heights.
  • Have Current valid driver's license.
  • Be able to work overtime when needed (including weekends & holidays).
