Provide professional design services, design project management oversight and inter-department coordination for Penn Station New York (NYP) Complex development program, and other station initiatives, ensuring the assigned projects are designed in compliance with CLIENT guidelines and federal/state/regional regulatory agencies requirements.
  • Develop technical scopes of work to retain professional design services for the NYP Complex development program, and other r station initiatives, using design consulting firms.
  • Manage the alternative analysis and design effort to support projects.
  • Collaborate closely with the NEC Business Lines, engaging internal and external stakeholders (including, IID, law, customer service, governmental affairs, real estate, transportation, EMCS, local and state agencies, FRA, and commuter railroads) to determine NYP station needs and priorities.
  • Direct 3rd Party consultants' design staff to achieve adherence with CLIENT's Standard Design Practices.
  • Prepare budget cost estimates and schedules with suggested phasing necessary to support projects.
  • Work with numerous NYP stakeholders on programming, budgeting, scheduling, and providing suitable designs.
  • Self-perform design on small station design projects under $100,000 with oversight by Principal Architect –NYP. Develop station design standards collaborating with other CLIENT stakeholders.
  • Professional design review of external and third-party station design projects that impact or have the potential to impact CLIENT assets.
  • Provide mentorship and delegate experience-appropriate tasks to Stations Program Interns.
  • Support construction of administered design projects by procuring and managing CPS.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Demonstrated experience in project and program management.
  • 10 years' experience in either Architecture, or Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in design and construction of buildings and facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of multi-discipline design projects.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience with consulting party architectural and engineering firms.
  • Extensive understanding of ADA regulations and ICC Building Codes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, collaborative, and relationship building skills with demonstrated experience both within and outside the organization.
  • Must be able to prepare technical reports and effectively communicate verbally and in writing to management and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Autocad, Microstation, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project, Primavera, Expedition Project Control System
  • Master's Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
  • Familiarity with railroad operations, procedures and construction methods
  • Familiarity with large scale architecturally and historically sensitive facilities.
