The company: Our client is a global healthcare company. The Company offers health solutions through its prescription medicines, vaccines, biologic therapies and animal health products. It operates through four segments: Pharmaceutical, Animal Health, Healthcare Services and Alliances. The Company's Pharmaceutical segment includes human health pharmaceutical and vaccine products marketed either directly by the Company or through joint ventures. Human health pharmaceutical products consist of therapeutic and preventive agents, generally sold by prescription, for the treatment of human disorders. The Company sells its human health pharmaceutical products primarily to drug wholesalers and retailers, hospitals, government agencies and managed healthcare providers, such as health maintenance organizations, pharmacy benefit managers and other institutions. Vaccine products consist of preventive pediatric, adolescent and adult vaccines, primarily administered at physician offices.

Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement: MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with eight years relevant experience in biotech industry; or BS with a minimum of ten years relevant experience

Required Experience and Skills: In-depth knowledge, understanding, and experience performing bioassay, biochemical, cleaning validation AND/OR cell based assays Formal training and experience with analytical instrumentation (e.g. HPLC, GC, PCR, KF, plate readers, OR automated liquid handlers) Experience with viral vaccines

Preferred Experience and Skills: Formal training and experience with cGMP expectations, electronic notebooks, electronic data repositories, instrument validation, and SOPs Excellent written and oral communication skills. Possess strong scientific skills including sound experimental design, data processing and interpretation skills. Experience with aseptic handling of cell lines. Experience with analytical method development and transfer to GMP labs 

Responsibilities: 
Applications are sought for a motivated and experienced Scientist to join the GMP Laboratories group within Vaccine Bioprocess Research and Development in West Point, PA. Responsibilities of this position are diverse across the bioassay, cleaning validation, biochemical, and cell based assay testing in support of the release and stability of drug substance and drug product clinical supplies for vaccine and biologics clinical candidates.

Specific duties will include:
• Performing assays to measure BSL1 and BSL2 products and process residuals under cGMP conditions
• Authoring cGMP SOPs and analytical method procedures
• Authoring and executing analytical method qualification protocols
• Actively participating in routine lab maintenance activities
• Authoring and performing instrument validation documents and activities, respectively 

Pay Rate: $42.00 per hour
Drug and background screenings required
