Quality Technician
Under the direction of the Lab Manager, the Quality Tech will perform standard metallurgical test procedures for evaluating metal components, including hardness testing, onsite testing, preparing metallographic sections for micro structural evaluation and customer continuous conformance testing. The technician will be expected to perform all necessary cutting and polishing for sample preparation. 
Location:  Battle Creek, MI
Duration of contract:  4 month
Shift: 3PM to 11PM  40-70 hours per week
Overview:
The On-Board Family of Companies conducts operations through its Corporate Headquarters located in East Windsor, New Jersey along with Regional Offices in New Castle, Delaware, and Raleigh, North Carolina.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-3 years of related experience.
  • One or more years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience working as a metallurgical analysis and testing technician
  • Familiarity with a microscope and viewing system
  • Familiarity with quality reports (TS 16949) a plus
  • Ability to solve problems and work with support personnel
  • Capable of writing technical reports
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Capable of using gages such as calipers, protractors and other common gage
  • Good communication skills
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates equipment; Follows blueprints, guidelines and/or diagrams to ensure product specifications and tolerance levels are met.
  • Coordinate work with other laboratory personnel for non-metallurgical analysis that may be needed for daily/monthly testing requirements. 
  • Summarize results in a written electronic report
  • Maintain metallurgical lab equipment in good working order
  • Develop and write new analytical procedures
  • Work will involve product launch, and new processing development
