The company: Our client is a global healthcare company. The Company offers health solutions through its prescription medicines, vaccines, biologic therapies and animal health products. It operates through four segments: Pharmaceutical, Animal Health, Healthcare Services and Alliances. The Company's Pharmaceutical segment includes human health pharmaceutical and vaccine products marketed either directly by the Company or through joint ventures. Human health pharmaceutical products consist of therapeutic and preventive agents, generally sold by prescription, for the treatment of human disorders. The Company sells its human health pharmaceutical products primarily to drug wholesalers and retailers, hospitals, government agencies and managed healthcare providers, such as health maintenance organizations, pharmacy benefit managers and other institutions. Vaccine products consist of preventive pediatric, adolescent and adult vaccines, primarily administered at physician offices.
Either: − A PhD degree and a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral training in cardiovascular pharmacology, physiology, pathology, or related field. Or: − A BS/MS degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience conducting in vitro/ex-vivo research for heart failure or pulmonary hypertension projects.
Required Skills: • In vitro assay development and standard methods for assessing signal transduction, cell proliferation or fibrosis related changes in multiwell formats.
• Methods to measure protein levels such as Western Blot and ELISA.
• In vitro/ex-vivo studies with isolated adult cardiac myocytes or tissues, stem cell-derived cardiac myocytes, primary cell cultures and cell lines.
• Tissue culture • Taqman
Preferred: • Proficient at measurement of intracellular calcium levels in cardiac myocytes. • Proficient at conducting experiments on isolated perfused hearts. • A solid understanding of cardiac or pulmonary physiology.
The Cardio-Renal Metabolism and Opthalmology department is seeking a Senior Scientist to work at the Research Laboratories Boston site. The candidate will contribute to ongoing efforts to identify, validate, and advance drug targets for treating heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. The individual will be expected to independently design, plan, and execute experiments as well as provide scientific and technical input into in vitro and ex-vivo assays supporting the programs.
Primary responsibilities will include the conduct of in vitro and ex vivo studies, but in vivo skills are a plus. Other desirable attributes include being highly self-motivated, possessing strong technical skills, having strong written and oral communication skills, and being able to work productively in collaborative and cross functional team environments.
Pay Rate: $41.00 per hour
