RESEARCH SUPPORT
Maintenance of accurate records, analysis of results, reporting of results and analyses to technical leadership are key aspects of the positions. Good communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills are important, together with an ability to work as part of a team. .
 
Location: Johnston, Iowa
Duration:  1 year contract
 
Qualifications
  •  The successful candidates will have a working knowledge of standard microbiological methods, including aseptic technique, media prep, microbial culturing and enumeration.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques is also required, in particular nucleic acid isolation from soil and tissue, quantification, and analysis (electrophoresis, PCR).
  • Familiarity with modern sequencing and cloning techniques desirable.
  • The successful candidates will be trained in Biology, specifically Microbiology, Plant Science or Entomology, with molecular biology and biochemistry components, to BS or MS degree level
 
Responsibilities
  • To conduct testing and experimental research related to the development of biological agents in agriculture.
  • The positions will conduct experiments in support of basic research and commercial product development, in both laboratory and glasshouse environments.
  • The focus of the work will be on the interactions of microbes, plants and insects in the rhizosphere.
