Contract Length: 12 Months 
Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $50.00 - $58.00/hour
Screenings: Background and drug screenings prior to start date

Responsibilities:
  • Works under supervision of Senior Engineer to design site development and to produce construction drawings.
  • Meets with customers and design team to produce concept designs for parking lot revisions associated with Electric Vehicle charging and ADA access.
  • Works with other engineering disciplines to: coordinate site survey, prepare existing utility layouts, coordinate underground electrical layout, prepare cost estimates for construction, and secure various agency permits.
  • Conducts engineering studies which require advanced knowledge within the assigned discipline.
  • Provides coordination, monitors progress, interprets results and ensures timely completion of assignments.
  • Exhibits working knowledge of with general grading and drainage practices.
  • Identifies actual or potential problem design areas and develops corrective actions to be taken.
  • Assists with processing construction plans through public agencies in preparation to obtain grading permit, encroachment permits, and building permits; including California Division of State Architects (DSA).
  • Recommends new and improved practices and procedures related to assigned tasks.
  • Keeps informed of technical developments, industry codes and safety and/or regulatory requirements which have an impact upon the respective engineering discipline.
  • 80% of time works in an office area; 20% of time in field or permit acquisition tasks. Field work requires personal vehicle use (reimbursable at Federal mileage rate)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a recognized engineering discipline is required; degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Requires 3 to 5 years relevant experience with demonstrated increasing responsibility
  • Registration as a professional engineer is desirable.
  • Must be familiar with ADA design concepts.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCad for design and construction document production. Experience with Civil3D is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ingenuity, analytical ability and judgment in identifying problems and impacts of new or retrofit engineering design and construction.
