Job Title: Materials Coordinator (Procurement Specialist)

Job Function: Responsible for all aspects of raw material flow, as well as general building supplies, and to maintain control and accuracy of all materials inventoried. This includes any required database transactions, procurement, planning, managing cost, and warehouse inventory control. Must work closely with Lab Management, Operations and Warehouse Supervisors and vendors.

Brief Job Description: Monitor daily orders and inventory reports to quantify what goods and materials are required to support the client and order the needed materials to meet those plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company polices that adhere to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for site wide procurement of supplies necessary for R&D and the facility in general and maintaining safety stock levels as required on commonly used items.
  • Oversee the effective flow of materials from receiving point to final usage areas.
  • Coordinate with other business leadership to develop the best economic strategy for order planning and stocking to support customer demand.
  • Improve existing methods related to the systems and process that support inventory forecasting and material control.
  • Create alternative plans for the operations when anticipated supplies are not immediately available.
  • Communicate shortages to suppliers and other key personal.
  • Coach, lead, and develop employees to ensure all safety milestones are met or exceeded.
  • Assist in training and evaluation as required in accordance with company policies
  • Provides support to subordinate personal during vacations and other emergency absences.
  • Preforms other related duties as required within job function

Other Tasks as Required:
  • Working with the IT, shipping and lab operations to determine what is to be tracked at site.
  • Perform PC tasks as requested and develop PC (and SAP) skills.

Requirements:
  • Two to three years of shipping/receiving/procurement/stores experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Sourcing and Procurement experience
  • Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions
  • Excellent computer navigation skills and functional knowledge of SAP and or Microsoft operating systems and applications
  • Must have clear written and verbal communication skills and an ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships



JOB SITE ANALYSIS
JOB TITLE: Materials Specialist

Mobility: Constant walking and/or standing in warehouse environment. Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling when using scanner to scan loads. Able to operate forklift, work saver and yard tractor.

Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling: Frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs. Occasional lifting of up to 90lbs assisted. Occasional pushing/pulling of up to 100lbs assisted.

Agility: Occasional stair climbing, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling.

Dexterity: Frequent finger dexterity on hand held scanner

Coordination: Frequent eye-hand coordination

Vision: Constant acuity near and far, depth perception, accommodation, and field of vision.

Talking/Hearing: Frequent face-to-face contact and verbal contact with others.
