Database Administrator to support a public sector client's Data Warehouse Initiatives in downtown Washington DC. The DBA will provide services and supervision on all facets of production monitoring and support as well as development efforts in a dynamic data warehousing program, which provides business intelligence services in the creation of reporting environments and customized software applications. Experience in BIG DATA and NOSQL on cutting edge technologies such as MongoDB, Hbase, Cassandra, and Hadoop HDFS platform.
Principal Duties:
  • Perform troubleshooting on any database issues (principally Oracle Environment), performance analysis, ensuring database security, evaluating new database trends and technologies, developing and testing Unix shell scripts, PERL scripting and coding required for database administration and associated database tools
  • Work as part of a team to design and develop code, scripts, and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data integrated from multiple sources
  • Look to leverage reusable code modules to solve problems across the team, including Data Preparation and Transformation and Data export and synchronization
  • Design and develop automated test cases that verify solution feasibility and interoperability, to include performance assessments
  • Act as a Big Data delivery liaison with Infrastructure, security, application developments.
Skills, Experience, and Other Job Related Requirements:
  • Minimum Requirements:A minimum of 5 years database administration experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS 11r2 or 12c, RMAN, and Enterprise Manager administration
  • Experience with Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of and strong desire to maintain skills in Big Data & NoSQL technology.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective problem solving skills within a complex work environment.
  • Deep knowledge of industry-standard, enterprise-class best practices for a large database environment
  • Experience implementing, supporting and auditing database security
  • Experience with NoSQL database technologies such as Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, HBase, Hadoop, etc.
  • Experience designing data warehouses and data marts for efficient business intelligence reporting and analytics
