Instructional Designer

PT Short term project to update training materials-
Could be filled with someone who is available full-time or interested in completing this project as a side job. Could take about 3 weeks on a part-time basis.


OVERVIEW: The Instructional Designer works collaboratively with internal clients to assess needs, coordinate, design, develop, and implement interactive learning solutions through a variety of mediums in support of the overall strategy and goals of Operations. Learning interactions will focus on job specific performance along with product and procedural knowledge. This position also plays a key role in deploying and supporting strategic initiatives and product enhancements from a learning perspective.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Based on needs assessment and other data points, designs, develops, and implements training and interventions to address identified needs or gaps in performance or knowledge. Interventions could be delivered through a variety of mediums (classroom, virtual classroom, web based, webcasts, etc.). Primary focus is elearning development, using Storyline 2.
• Use clear communication and cross-functional process management skills to ensure timely implementation of effective training programs that add value in supporting Operations goals and initiatives.
• Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal clients through needs assessments and discussions to proactively identify issues that impact Operations training needs from both a performance and knowledge base.
• Independently manage or participate in projects determined in conjunction with SPS and Operations Directors and/or Managers.
• Maintain awareness of new developments in training and instructional design and recommend modifications in our curriculum and practices.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Communications, Training, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
• 5-8 years relevant experience or Master's degree and 3-5 years relevant experience; Hands on Instructional Design/e-learning program development experience preferred
• Proficiency in elearning tools, specifically, Storyline 2. May use Articulate and Captivate. Experience with animation (GoAnimate) and gaming software is desired. Also proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Snagit, and SharePoint.
• Demonstrated knowledge of human behavior, adult learning theory, and Instructional Design theory and practice as well as working knowledge of all facets of training assessment, design, delivery, and implementation. Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and keep issues confidential; Ability to turn complex information from multiple sources into simple, understandable material to train the organization.
