Payroll Supervisor

Payroll Supervisor needed for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Anaheim.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of position is to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for our client’s businesses, and to ensure state and federal payroll requirements are met. Additionally, position is responsible for overseeing payroll administrator, payroll department and assisting in the administration of union and non-union related benefits payments, answering employee inquiries regarding benefits and wages, and handling other tasks as directed.
  • Responsible for overseeing and processing of biweekly payroll for 11 companies and over 340 employees; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
  • Responsible for the coordination efforts between payroll, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, (e.g. hours reports for management, head count, and 401(k) / pension contribution reports).
  • Familiarity with current payroll laws, specifically local ordinances, CA and NV payroll laws, and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Continued review and knowledge of the company’s various collective bargaining agreements in order to ensure adherence to contracted wage rates and benefits administration.
  • New employee set-up in the ADP Workforce Now payroll system and Enhanced Time & Attendance system as required.
  • Administration of the electronic timekeeping system. Train company HR / payroll personnel on new employee set-up and time monitoring.
  • Input of all changes to benefits deductions, salaries, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
  • Monitor submissions of approved timesheets and perform edits as required (missed punches, travel time).
  • Prepare and edit timekeeping system data in order to prepare accurate batches for hourly employees’ payroll and transmit into ADP Workforce Now payroll system for payroll processing.
  • Establish and maintain employee records.
  • Answer questions and inquiries from accounting staff and HR.
  • Assist with records compilation for assorted audits as needed.
  • Manage other employees in the department.
  • Seek to find and employ the most efficient ways to administer payroll.
  • Handle other tasks and projects as needed.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance preferred; Accounting Degree preferred.
  • 5+ plus years performing all payroll functions; 3 years additional payroll experience in lieu of Associate's degree.
  • Prior supervisory skills a plus.
  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of information in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.
  • Experience with automated ADP payroll systems (specifically Workforce Now, Enhanced Time and Attendance).
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Excellent problem solving / judgment skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
