Payments Technology – Lead Business Analyst

Enterprise Payments organization is looking for an experienced Lead Business Analyst, with a strong banking and payments background, who will help us design and build a modern payments platform with large-scale transaction processing capability.
Responsibilities: 1. Overall iterative requirements gathering process – to groom and size epics/features and stories for the payments hub team ahead of development sprints – in partnership with peers, partner teams, business stakeholders and product team. a. Elicit, analyze, document, communicate and validate business and system requirements using industry leading practices within the business analyst profession. b. Plan risk-response strategy used in monitoring and managing requirements risk throughout the lifecycle of a 'feature' – from conception to release to customer feedback etc. 2. Manage & oversee division of work among a team of Client. a. Monitor progress and quality of requirements artifacts, cadence of grooming sessions –collect feedback and adjust plans as needed. b. Interpret internal/external challenges, and recommend best practices to improve process. 3. Functional delivery roadmap (release roadmap) and release notes in partnership with product team. 4. Maintain alignment with business & product team. a. Apply advanced expertise in payments and banking domain to explain/translate technical implications of business decisions, and business implications of technical decisions – be the bridge between business and technology teams. 5. Provide consulting and coordination with 3rd party vendor products; oversee creation of detailed specifications using which 3rd party vendors will produce output. 6. Help us hire and retain technical and non-technical talent. a. Mentor & guide less experienced teammates to build up their expertise and performance. 7. Help us stay ahead of our competition – by staying up to date on emerging business models, innovations, and practices/trends in our space. Attend related technical and industry conferences.
Characteristics we are looking for in you: 1. Financial Services generalist – broad/general familiarity with many different aspects of banking, and emerging trends in the financial services industry, with some depth in payments. 2. Passion to always learn more about payments, and about best practices in requirements and risk/change management -- from others around you, and from external sources, including journals and conferences. 3. Actual BA experience, writing user-stories on a modern agile team, and conducting sprint demos – preferably recent experience, and preferably in Scrum or Kanban. 4. Great Communicator – clear/crisp communication; someone who can bridge/straddle technical and non-technical, and influence leaders at all levels in business and technology organization - using slide decks, or demos, and everything in between.
5. Effective Leader a. Someone with conviction, who is not afraid to debate ideas backed by facts/industry-research etc, but also knows when to seek leadership help to build alignment top-down. b. Experience leading requirements negotiations between stakeholders, as well as among peers, analysts, architects etc. 6. Up to date on Agile and DevOps – knowledge of its benefits and actual experience implementing it, or driving it as a change-agent/change-champion. 7. Friendly and positive. Enjoy working in a team, with experience leading working sessions and providing support/guidance to team members. Capable of influencing others, and disagreeing with ideas, without disrespecting or disliking people.
Requirements: 1. Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience as a Senior/Lead BA in the Banking/FinTECH industry, with domain knowledge of banking or payments/transaction processing technologies (Wires, ACH, cards, item processing etc) 2. Hands on experience in leading a team of mid-level to junior business analyst(s) for large scale IT Programs/Portfolios with a strong understanding of both Waterfall & Agile methodologies. 3. Top notch analytical skills with an ability to break down a complex scenario into manageable units and solve each, then synthesize back to the whole/big picture for business and IT stakeholders. 4. Very strong communication skills (Verbal, Written & Presentation) with past experience in interacting with Senior/Executive leadership. 5. Organizational navigation skills and high Emotional Intelligence. 6. Experience facilitating large requirements grooming and design sessions/meetings - formalize agenda, meeting notes, and decision logs, via lean documentation. 7. Experience creating business process flow and data flow diagrams in Visio or other similar tools. Nice to have skills: 1. Experience with one or more Agile tools – Rally Dev, VersionOne, TFS or others. 2. Experience working in other scrum roles - Scrum Master, Product Owner etc. 3. Ability to proxy as the Product Owner, when the PO is unavailable. 4. Experience with Scaled Agile Framework and related ceremonies, discipline.
