Systems Engineer

Our client, located in midtown Manhattan, is currently looking to hire a System Engineer who will function as a key team member in the technology services and support. This position will provide design, installation, maintenance, documentation and support for servers, systems and physical and virtual infrastructure. This position will also work within a critical available network that can withstand very little interruption. This position requires an independent thinker who can contribute productively to the Network team and work closely with other teams to successfully complete projects, work with 3rd parties to provide services and support to locations.

To be successful as a System Engineer, This position requires an independent thinker who can contribute productively to the Network team and work closely with other teams to successfully complete projects, work with 3rd parties to provide services and support to retail locations. A bachelor's degree in a related field of study and/or at least five (5) years of relevant experience is required for consideration.

Responsiblities
  • Strategically design, implement and support high availability systems
  • Deploy ISCSI and Fiber Chanel SANs
  • Professionally administer routing, switching and fault tolerance solutions
  • Design, build and implement virtual stacks
  • Perform Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Migrations
  • Deploy and administer systems and virtualization solutions
  • Implementing and troubleshoot mission critical IT systems
  • Work with VMware vSphere
  • Design, plan and implement enterprise-wide system solutions.
  • Manage and maintain systems and software.
  • Support server software and hardware and related applications and systems.
  • Design systems that proactively monitor health and performance of systems and infrastructure.
  • Implement tools to provide analytic trend analysis, capacity planning and performance data.
  • Assist in standardized design of new and existing processes and policies.
  • Document existing systems architecture and technology portfolio.
  • Recommend improvements and/or alternatives for existing systems.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies to increase cost effectiveness, system ability and future expandability.
  • Facilitate, lead and document meetings and discussions.
  • Act as a liaison between IT management and remote branches and technicians.
Qualitications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related field.
  • 5+ years experience with Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016 design, implementation and administration preferred.
  • IT certifications such as MCSA or MCSE a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policies
  • Experience with networking (routers, switches and firewalls)
  • Experience with virtualization environments (VMWare)
  • Knowledge of networking, Ethernet, TCP / IP and remote communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service focus and experience with end users.
