Purpose and Importance of Position:
The Product Owner manages a portfolio of internal business systems and processes that transform the way we work and drive business results. Portfolio examples might be claims systems, legal systems, HR/financial systems. The Product Owner will use Agile/Scrum and Lean Management System processes and tools to create and maintain product roadmaps and identify and prioritize items for delivery. This includes projects with a range of scope and complexity, varying levels of strategy and business planning. This requires operating at the intersection of business, technology and user experience every day and continuously improving business processes.

Essential Functions:
  • Articulate the vision for continuous improvement; act as a champion, inspiring direct reports and other teams to transform the way we work and continuous improvement.
  • Primary subject matter expert for systems within portfolio
  • Responsible for creating & maintaining roadmaps for all systems in the portfolio based on company strategy and priorities, vendor roadmaps, innovative opportunities and business partner input.
  • Responsible for articulating and translating the roadmaps into strategy and tactics for specific applications and processes
  • Responsible for establishing priorities for delivery timing based on business value and goals
  • Responsible for business results of the related set of projects, systems and processes, as measured by relevant KPI's
  • Manages short-term road map, identifies resource and budget needs; contributes to long-term road map and budgeting
  • Acts as Product Owner within Agile methodology to ensure the outcomes meet customer and business needs
  • Facilitates and ensures user stories and grooms backlog on a continuous basis to create solutions that effectively address program priorities while maintaining technical reliability and quality
  • Manages and analyzes departmental processes for improvement; coordinates improvement implementation
  • Supports acquisitions and migrations as needed
  • Interacts with leadership; manages by influence, mentors team members, engages with cross-functional teams
  • Maintains high degree of confidentiality
  • Models and practices client values
  • Contribute to all assigned departmental and/or company objectives and initiatives
  • Serves on organizational committees or projects as assigned

Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience
  • Business owner for customer/employee facing applications
  • Business system planning and budgeting
  • Agile (Scrum) methodology preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma and process project experience preferred
  • Experience with Data Analytics, Master Data Management, and Data architectures, Cloud, and Big Data
  • Industry exposure with product development/management of data products
  • Required Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, technology or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred
  • Preferred Education or Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Lean Management, Agile/Scrum Product Owner
