Description:

• Actively contributes to the overall management and success of the Actuarial Services team as a member of the Actuarial Services management team.

• Responsible for the delivery of actuarial projects from start to finish, including managing quality/timeliness deliverables.

• Manages the preparation and interpretation of actuarial information, studies, and modeling to management, including communication and recommendations.

• Makes presentations and or presents findings and recommendations to key constituents, including senior management.

• Provide expert guidance to support the creation of systems specifications, contracts, commission structures, and other actuarial aspects of product development.

• Monitors and analyzes developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations and communicates implications and recommendations to impacted areas.

• Represents the company on industry and professional committees and/or with regulators.

• Responsible for communicating with and managing the actuarial relationship with the NCDOI, CMS, and external auditors.

• Manages/supports Financial Planning and Forecasting.

• Responsible for enterprise actuarial functions including, but not limited to:

o Rating and underwriting models

o Medical Trend analysis

o Administrative Expense factor development

o Experience Studies

o Rating Factor Studies

o Rate Filings

o Network evaluations

o Impact of medical expense programs

o Setting and certifying Claim Reserves

o Setting and certifying Active Life Reserves

• Responsible for Actuarial support to the following areas:

o Network Management

o Underwriting (all segments)

o Sales and Marketing

o Financial Services

o Legal and Government Affairs

o Healthcare Services

o Diversified Markets, Strategy, and Healthcare Redesign

• Supervise staff with authority to hire and fire, Provides guidance, feedback, development and direction to staff. Develops and manages a high performing team.

• Manages their staff members, who are participants in the Actuarial Development Program, to ensure they meet the ADP goals.

• Responsible for maintaining continuing education requirements as set by the appropriate Actuarial governing body (i.e. Society of Actuaries)

• Prepares for and sits for examinations given by the Society Of Actuaries, if necessary



Hiring Requirements



• Bachelor's degree

• Eight years of relevant actuarial experience

• Two years leadership experience

• FSA, MAAA

• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, including the ability to work well with all levels of management in the company
