About the team In Apps we're rethinking what productivity and communication mean, and how they intersect in today's technology ecosystem. User Experience (UX) is at the forefront of everything we do, and Research plays an important role in creating inspired, refined and even magical experience for users. You'll be working alongside extremely talented Product Managers, User Experience Designers, Researchers, and Engineers to help test out new product feature ideas.

The role: User Experience Research Assistant This position is primarily based in Google's office in Sunnyvale, CA. You may also be asked to work from the Google San Francisco office, make day trips to user study locations outside of the Bay Area, and potentially work from other offices, too, as needed. The position is a contract role for a duration of 3 months and can be extended up to 1 year depending on performance and need.
 
As a Research Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to support our research activities in developing innovative, user-friendly, best-of-breed products. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills, are diligent, detail-oriented, and can work fairly independently.
 
Responsibilities
Coordinating with product managers, designers, and other researchers to plan in and out of product surveys across G Suite products
Administering questionnaires, surveys, and interviews.
Analyzing qualitative & quantitative data.
Categorizing user feedback Synthesizing observations with the product team
Communicating findings from the study to the research lead.
Creating reports (including creating graphs, highlight videos, slide decks etc.).
Analyzing, interpreting and summarizing existing research reports.
 
Minimum qualifications
BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
 2+ years of relevant work experience in an applied research setting, including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
Experience in designing and conducting surveys with complex (Qualtrix) and simple (Google Forms) platforms
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
 
Preferred qualifications
Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
