UX Engineer

In a UX Engineer role, you'll need both types of skills to develop the next generation of products. We're looking for a UX Engineer who loves building intuitive applications and can draw from design sensibilities to create effective user interfaces. You'll partner with design and research teams to translate rough concepts into prototypes, test, and deliver new features.
 
Top Daily Responsibilities:
  • Deliver innovative, engaging prototypes
  • Advise, collaborate with, and synthesize feedback from UX designers and researchers
  • Identify and solve UX problems on emerging technology platforms and devices
  • Design, develop, and maintain the web-based tools working primarily with ES6 JavaScript, a React/Redux application framework, and Polymer
  • Interface with REST APIs; identify and propose changes to APIs when necessary to serve common use-cases
 
Skill/Experience/Education
  • Mandatory- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 + years of basic web development experience (HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) with experience in at least one major modern web application framework (React, Angular, Vue, Polymer, etc).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with (and empathize with) members of both UX and Engineering teams. In practice, this means you should be able to "think like a Designer”, "think like an Engineer”, or both at the same time.
  • Understanding of Material design standards and principles
  • Basic experience with a scripting language, such as Python, Ruby, etc.
 
Desired
  • Deep knowledge of front-end web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and experience working in a reasonably large React-based code base.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: software architecture, library/framework development, or machine learning
  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform and AppEngine to run a major user-facing application.
  • Previous experience designing and developing design or research tools either as part of an official project or as a side project.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, not only with cross-functional team members, but also with product stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management, and organizational skills.
