A group company within NTT DATA currently seeks an Functional Software Tester with Query writing skills using SQL or other Query tools to join our team in Halifax, NS, Canada.

Work on the functional software testing portion of the Client engagement, performing a variety of testing tasks including but not limited to:
  • Working closely with business to develop test plans.
  • Execution of test plans and recording of results
  • Defect Reporting
  • Collaboration with architecture, development and maintenance teams.
  • Ensuring testing best practices are implemented.
  • Leveraging QA Automation where possible
Experience:
  • Must have 2-3 years experience analyzing functional and technical requirements (Use Cases) and mapping documents and transforming them into a comprehensive test plan.
  • Must have 2-3 years experience in SDLC and Agile-like software development.
  • Must have 2-3 years experience in software testing
  • Must have intermediate to advanced skills using SQL or other Query tools
  • Ability to develop complex and optimized SQL Queries
  • Experience using HP Quality Center and ALM for test plan development and defect tracking is a plus
  • Expereince developing and executing testing for an Enterprise Data Warehouse with ETL is a must have
Job Level Specific Duties

• Applies strong knowledge of QA principles, methodologies, and techniques to test and ensure the quality of the software.
• Takes the lead on difficult defect detection, problem solving and troubleshooting with complex software.
• Detects problems where standard practice and / or software has failed to meet customer requirements.
• Works with application development team and customer to ensure that all customer requirements / problems are met and resolved.
• Addresses escalated technical defects identified by less experienced team members.
• Provides support in areas such as feasibility studies and design review.

Typical Years of Experience

• Typically requires 3-5 years relevant experience.

Minimum Education and Certifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of software quality assurance methodology.
• Strong proficiency with requirements gathering tools.
• Strong knowledge of project management tools and concepts.

• Ability to physically perform general office requirements.
